A New Search Engine for Use in the Classroom

http://www.refseek.com

I came across this from "History Tech", a blog I really enjoy. Google is a wonderful search engine, and I use it most often, but I am hearing a lot of complaints from teachers about the use of the internet for projects. So, this is a possible compromise. Refseek.com labels itself as an academic search engine. When you type in a topic, the results are not necessarily commercial sites, but instead online encyclopedias and sites hosted by organizations and institutions that have established themselves. Rather than getting Bobby Lee writing on the Civil War from his basement, you get an article from a more reliable source. Try it and see what you think. This may be the corner we were looking to turn. Now, we have access to a search engine that can be used with confidence.
